When I talk about the stakes of this race, I sometimes mention that the very fate of our democracy is on the line. John, I wish I was being hyperbolic.

But here in New Hampshire – and across the country – Republicans who have undermined the strength of our democracy and pushed baseless election fraud conspiracy theories are running for office.

And my opponent, Don Bolduc, is one of them.

Just by peddling the Big Lie, Don Bolduc has taken part in attacking the foundations of our democracy. But now, as we face off in one of the top battleground races of 2022, the threat that he poses to our electoral process is not just theoretical, it’s real.

If elected to the U.S. Senate, Don Bolduc, who has promised to “defy the presidential election results, should he be called upon to do so in 2024,” would be in a position to do just that.

In 2016, I won this seat by the slimmest margin of any sitting Senator. Now, polls are tightening. What I’m trying to say is that with just 4 weeks until Election Day, this seat is within reach for Don Bolduc.

I say all this not to scare you, but to help you understand what is at stake in this race. And to help you understand why I am reaching out to ask for your support.
