John, if you haven't heard already…
Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation is partnering with this year's ONE MusicFest!
By partnering with ONE MusicFest, the possibilities are
endless. We know that the future of Black liberation rests on a foundation of harnessing and expressing what it means to be Black -- connecting Black people with each other, and the magic that happens when Black arts and culture are given their worth.
Black Lives Matter is working towards a world that does not yet exist – an abolitionist society free of police and anti-Black violence. But the fact of the matter is that sometimes,
it's hard to imagine what it looks like since it's never been done. The only way we get closer to it is by manifesting it and working to turn that manifestation into reality.
Arts, culture, and community is how we begin to imagine and paint what this world can look like. An abolitionist world is one that is filled with joy, love, and care. By partnering with ONE MusicFest, we’re taking a crucial step at abolitionist world-making.
Creating an environment that nurtures our imaginings allows for people to take a moment to begin thinking about what this world can look like – whether that's creating spaces of freedom and
#BLMJoy or addressing disputes and disagreements through peace-centered tactics, we can take the imagination a step further.
Not only is ONE MusicFest Black-owned by an HBCU graduate, but the festival is also the southeast’s largest 2-day Black music festival. It’s such an honor to be a partner of something community curated where we just know the vibes are going to Black AF!
John, it's folks like you who have proven that our Blackness has no bounds or rules. We are unapologetically Black, and will show it in any way we please.
If you won't be attending the festival, no worries! We know that Black joy can mean many different things.
And so, we want to hear directly from you: What does Black joy mean to you? Let us know >>
We can't wait to experience this with you – because Black Lives Matter is Black Joy. Black joy is how we heal, how we play, how we rest, how we breathe, and how we connect and build communities of care.
#BLMJoy.
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation
P.S. Be sure you're following us on social media to catch glimpses of the festival this weekend!
