I’ll get straight to the point: Because of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade , abortion rights will come down to governors. And if I’m elected, I promise to fiercely defend reproductive rights in Arkansas .

Here in Arkansas, we’re already feeling the impacts of the conservative Supreme Court’s disastrous decision. The moment Roe was overturned, Arkansas’ “trigger law” went into effect, banning abortions in almost every circumstance — and our current governor held a press conference to celebrate it. People who choose to get abortions in our state will face fines of up to $100,000, imprisonment for up to 10 years, or both. It’s a tragedy for our state .

My opponent Sarah Huckabee Sanders celebrated too when Roe was overturned:

Abortion rights aren’t just essential, they’re also popular. Recent polls show that a majority of Arkansans want the trigger law to be reversed. And 92 percent of those who want the law reversed also said that abortion access should be easier.

Yet Sarah Huckabee Sanders is already promising to act against the will of the voters if she wins. And that won’t just stop at our reproductive rights.

We’re already in the midst of GOP attacks on our voting rights, our right to privacy, our access to an education, and so much more. Arkansans are ready for a better future, but extremists like Sarah Huckabee Sanders are bound and determined to drag us to the past. Let’s fight with everything we’ve got left this last month to stop her and make it clear it’s time for a change.
