Dear John,

In response to Wednesday's announcement that OPEC intends to slash oil production, I co-sponsored a bill with Reps. Tom Malinowski (D-NJ), Sean Casten (D-Ill), and Susan Wild (D-PA) to end U.S. troop protection for Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.  

The Strained Partnership Act would remove all U.S. troops and American missile defense systems from both countries.

The bill would also relocate all other U.S. technology and defense systems to other areas in the Middle East for the purpose of protecting U.S. troops in other countries in the region. 

It's outrageous that by inflating global oil prices, OPEC has chosen to financially empower Putin, further funding his criminal war against Ukraine. 

As a nation, we need to reevaluate our relationship with the Saudis and remind them who the superpower is.

Also this week, U.S. Senator Bob Casey, Rep. Dwight Evans and I sent a letter urging U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to address the ongoing mail issues many of you are experiencing in the district. 

In our letter, we demanded action, including the development of an immediate plan to improve mail service throughout Pennsylvania.

It's been just over a week since Hurricane Ian slammed into Florida before making its way north to North Carolina, New Jersey and Delaware.

Although Ian may be long gone, the trail of wreckage left in its wake may take years to overcome. My prayers are with all those impacted by Ian's devastation. 

While affected families try to put their lives back together after one of the worst hurricanes in Florida's history, we're realizing that catastrophic hurricanes, floods, heat waves and wildfires are becoming a regular phenomenon.

To save lives and better prepare for future extreme weather events, I'm introducing a new bill next week called The PREPARE Act. This bipartisan legislation is intended to improve government readiness for extreme weather disasters like Hurricane Ian.
