Eight LGBTQ Stories You Should Know About

1. Robert Zimmerman vs. Extremism

The debate for New York’s 3rd Congressional seat made it clear that Game Changer Robert Zimmerman is the right choice for this district. Zimmerman made his positions on issues like abortion and protecting democracy clear, while his opponent, George Santos, called the right to choose “an issue no longer important in Congress.” It’s also no secret that Santos defended the January 6th insurrectionists, paying their legal fees and proudly boasting about attending the rally.

While Zimmerman proudly stood up to defend marriage equality at the debate, Santos publicly supports Florida’s harmful "Don’t Say Gay" bill. Zimmerman is ready to put up a fight in the last month leading up to the election, having raised more than $1 million in the third quarter. The choice is clear: a vote for Robert Zimmerman is a vote against extremism.

. @Santos4Congress you publicly said that you would support a national ban on #abortion with no exceptions—even for New Yorkers. That is not a distraction. Women will die because of your position. #NY03

2. The Oregon Governor Debates Showed that There is no Debate. Tina Kotek is the Right Choice for Oregon.

Game Changer candidate Tina Kotek took to the stage this week to debate the other two main candidates running for Oregon Governor. She reminded us of what was at stake in this election: reproductive rights. Her opponent, Christine Drazan, is backed by an organization that is working to ban abortion nationwide while Kotek is an unequivocal supporter of the right to choose. She is fighting to end homelessness, stand up for workers' rights, and fight for people in need.

Tweet: . @ChristineDrazan , just like Trump's SCOTUS nominees, would ban abortion if given the chance. Don't let her fool you.

In the race for Florida’s 18th district state Senate seat, Spotlight candidate Eunic Ortiz is our candidate. She can beat an extremist and help expand LGBTQ representation in the Florida legislature when it’s needed most. Ortiz has fought for Floridians for decades, championing LGBTQ rights, workers' rights, and affordable health care. Her opponent, Nick DiCeglie, has continually voted against equality, voting for the “Don’t Say Gay” Bill and supporting an abortion ban. Watch Eunic's latest ad here.

4.Celia Israel is Challenging the Status Quo.

“What the good old boys did not count on was a well-regarded member of the legislature who happens to be Latina, and lesbian, and a realtor, being able to raise money in her own right to challenge the status quo.”

In the race for Austin Mayor, Spotlight candidate Celia Israel is shaking things up. She would be the first Latina Mayor of a top-20 U.S. city and Austin’s first out LGBTQ mayor. Israel has been a fierce advocate for trans kids and is a founding member of the Texas House LGBTQ Caucus.

Rollins is the opposite of his extremist opponent, incumbent Ken Calvert. He stands against disinformation, fights for abortion rights and has helped to prosecute those who attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6th and QAnon conspiracy theorists.
