Promoting American Energy Production

As Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus, I have the great honor of being a voice for rural America and am working to promote policies that will help rural communities in Central Washington and across the country thrive.

This week, I led Western Caucus members on an energy field tour in New Mexico to see firsthand the many benefits of American oil, natural gas, energy infrastructure, and technology

So many of our communities have been impacted by President Biden's anti-American energy policies, resulting in skyrocketing energy prices and inflation. The Western Caucus is working to encourage responsible resource development, promote clean energy innovations, and reopen American energy so we can regain energy independence and lower inflation.

I will never stop fighting to restore American energy dominance, which will lower gas, food, and transportation prices for Central Washington and the United States.

Leading the Charge to Stop Bureaucratic Regulations from Strangling Our Farmers

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) proposed climate rules are a major government overreach and would make it nearly impossible for family farmers to continue to conduct traditional farm practices.

Farmers in Central Washington and across the country are already struggling due to overreaching regulations, supply chain disruptions, labor shortages, and skyrocketing inflation. They do not need more burdens and regulations that could cripple the entire industry.

My legislation, the Protect Farmers from the SEC Act will prohibit the SEC from requiring farmers to disclose greenhouse gas emissions, allowing them to continue to feed America.

I am proud to stand up for our nation's farmers, and I will continue to work to ensure U.S. farmers and ranchers thrive.

Protecting our Food and National Security

Over the past several years, China has been buying U.S. agricultural assets on our own soil—this is unacceptable. We cannot become reliant on China for our domestic agriculture and food supply.

I am demanding the Government Accountability Office investigate the recent purchases of our domestic agricultural land by China and to report on the scope of this threat on our food supply to Congress

We should be taking every action necessary to prevent China from gaining a foothold in our food supply chain. I am leading the charge in Congress to stop China from these land grabs to protect our food and national security, and to ensure we maintain control of our nation's resources.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15 through October 15 is a time to celebrate our Hispanic friends and neighbors and their contributions to Central Washington and our great nation

In Central Washington, our Hispanic neighbors strengthen our communities through their strong family values, cultural diversity, and incredibly hard work ethics. This Hispanic Heritage Month, join me in recognizing the history, accomplishments, and contributions of our friends. Central Washington could not prosper without the Hispanic farmers, police officers, teachers, and soldiers who support our society

Benton-Franklin Fair raises money for over 9,500 meals in the community

"I was thinking back to my old 4H days and what an integral part fairs are to agriculture. We're really fortunate there are generous donors like the fair," said Eric Williams. The majority of food distributed by Second Harvest is donated from processors, grocery rescue and especially farmers.
