Good afternoon and happy Friday! It’s been a beautiful week in the Lowcountry as we cleaned up from the storm and our team had the chance to connect with many of you at two local events.
Instead of traveling back to Washington, we spent the last week preparing for Hurricane Ian. Fortunately, we were spared the worst of the storm. We must keep those in Florida who lost everything in our thoughts and prayers as they rebuild from this catastrophe.
Early this week, we hosted two events to connect with you and learn about how the storm affected you and provide an update from Washington. We hosted Coffee With Your Congresswoman in Summerville on Tuesday and in Beaufort on Wednesday. Thanks to everyone who joined us. We always enjoy connecting with you and learning about the issues which matter most to you.
On Thursday, we joined a panel discussion at the South Carolina Blockchain Conference to discuss the future of this technology. Thanks to everyone who attended!
Later Thursday afternoon, we joined local officials from Folly Beach including Mayor Goodwin to survey the impacts of Hurricane Ian. We also had the chance to discuss beach renourishment efforts in the area. Every time we visit the beach, it’s a reminder of how lucky we are to live in the Lowcountry.
On Thursday afternoon, the President took a major step forward in cannabis reform. The Administration announced they will work to pardon all nonviolent and non-gang-related individuals in federal prison for simple possession of marijuana. They are also going to look into the process for rescheduling cannabis. We must always give credit where credit is due, and this is a great step forward.
This afternoon, we attended the Citadel’s ring ceremony. So many memories always come flooding back when our team has the opportunity to visit the historic grounds. Congratulations to all cadets receiving their rings today. Go Bulldogs!
Are you living in the Lowcountry with an adorably cute dog? Every weekend, we highlight one District Dog on our social media platforms. Submit your dog here.
As always, if you need us, call us. Whether you need help with a passport, issues with receiving your tax refund or the Veterans Administration, please reach out to our office if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to be heard on any issue at any time.
It’s an immense honor to serve each and every one of you.
Sincerely,
