John,

Yesterday we found out that Phil Knight made a $1 million donation to Republican Christine Drazan, switching candidates from unaffiliated Betsy Johnson. This is a huge development in the governor’s race, and it means that Drazan will have the funds she needs to stay competitive with Tina in this extremely close race.

Drazan has already said that if she is elected she will reverse Governor Brown’s executive order on climate and try to eliminate our Clean Fuels Program. We can’t let that happen. Will you make an urgent contribution to the OLCV PAC and help us make sure that our next governor is a climate champion? (Your donation may be eligible for Oregon’s Political Tax Credit. With gratitude,

John,

We just found out yesterday that Nike co-founder Phil Knight donated $2 million to Betsy Johnson in September, bringing his total donations to her campaign to a whopping $3.75 million. Johnson is polling below 20%, but she continues to raise massive amounts of money making her a potential spoiler in the governor’s race and helping Republican Christine Drazan, who has received large donations from the oil and gas industry.

Recent polls show Drazan leading Tina Kotek, 32% to 31%. We can’t let an anti-climate extremist be our next governor. We’re going up against deep-pocketed opponents, but with the help of grassroots supporters like you, we can get Tina elected. Will you make an urgent contribution to the OLCV PAC today to help?

Thanks for all you do.

Sincerely,
April Christenson

John,

The election is less than six weeks away and I can’t overstate its importance for the future of our state. Both of the candidates running against OLCV-endorsed former House Speaker Tina Kotek have been named to LCV’s 2022 Dirty Dozen in the States, the worst candidates in the country for our environment. This is the first time ever that two candidates in the same race have both been on the list, which highlights how dangerous both Betsy Johnson and Christine Drazan are for Oregon’s environment.

Right now, polls show Tina in a virtual tie with Christine Drazan, the Republican nominee for governor and former House Republican Leader. That means there’s a 50/50 chance of our next governor being an anti-environment extremist. We can’t let that happen.

Will you make an urgent contribution to OLCV today and help us get Tina elected? Your donation may be eligible for Oregon’s Political Tax Credit! That means you can give $50 or $100 to the OLCV PAC and get it back when you file your taxes.

Christine Drazan is in lockstep with extremists and anti-environmentalists in her party. Independent candidate Betsy Johnson has a disastrous 20+ year anti-environment voting record.

Both Drazan and Johnson have accepted significant money from the fossil fuel industry and have opposed every single major climate bill in Oregon’s recent history, including 100% Clean Energy for All, the Clean Energy Jobs bill, and the Oregon Environmental Protection Act. Drazan also helped lead the 2020 House Republican walkout to kill climate action.

We can’t let an anti-environment, anti-democratic candidate become our next governor. Please make an urgent contribution to OLCV today and support our work electing environmental champions this November, including Tina Kotek as governor.

Both Betsy Johnson and Christine Drazan have pledged to end Governor Kate Brown’s executive order on climate if they are elected. We have no time to waste when it comes to addressing climate change and certainly no time to go backwards. We can’t risk electing either one of this dirty duo.

This race is critical for the future of our state and our planet. We need all the support we can get to ensure that our next governor is a climate and environmental champion. Can I count on you to help?

Sincerely,

Doug Moore
OLCV Executive Director
