APPLETON, Wis. — In Appleton today, State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski hosted a roundtable to hear directly from small business owners about the important issue of capital access with State Representative Lee Snodgrass. In coordination with the Main Street Alliance (MSA), the Treasurer sought to uplift the challenges and opportunities facing the Fox Valley.

“I am grateful for the opportunities I had to hear directly from local small business owners about how they’re contributing to make their communities and our state a better place. But we also know that the state can do more to support these folks, and I was glad for the chance to hear their ideas and brainstorm ways to move forward and help them become stronger,” said *State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski*.

Treasurer Godlewski and Representative Snodgrass met with local business owners and members of MSA to talk about access to capital for Wisconsin businesses. These entrepreneurs shared the roadblocks and barriers they faced to access the financing necessary to expand their businesses and create jobs in their community. Whether they were looking to provide healthcare or paid family leave to employees, these business owners talked about the ways in which accessing capital could help their business.

“I’m so pleased to welcome Treasurer Godlewski to the 57th Assembly District. Small business development, manufacturing and industry along the Fox River have been historic drivers of business innovation and growth and we are excited to have discussions about the future of business large and small in our region with the State Treasurer,” said *State Representative Lee Snodgrass.*

“I frequently hear from business owners who have an idea to grow their shop or expand into a new sector, but can’t access the capital they need to make it happen. I’m grateful to Treasurer Godlewski and Representative Snodgrass for coming to Appleton today to truly listen, and to think about how the state can continue to support small business owners into the future,” said *Shawn Phetteplace, the Midwest Regional Manager of Main Street Alliance*.

The Treasurer was proud to work with MSA to make this roundtable a success. MSA is an organization that strives to shift the economic narrative, wield political power, and win policy reform for small business owners, employees, and communities. MSA advocates for a care economy, tax fairness, capital access, anti-monopoly, and health care access for employees and customers.
