Civic Holidays season is in full swing! This week, we celebrated National Voter Education Week (NVEW), a nonpartisan digital voter education campaign held the first week of October that equips voters with the tools, information, and confidence they need to cast their ballots. Each day of NVEW is dedicated to an action folks can take to be more prepared to cast their vote. 

NVEW Calls to Action:

#VoteReady: Make sure you are registered to vote before important deadlines.

#MailReady: Know the rules and resources that can help you request and turn in your mail-in ballot. 

#VotePlanReady: Making a plan to vote is one of the most proven strategies in turning someone into a voter. 

#BallotReady: Get the tools and resources that can help you prepare and understand what’s on your ballot.  

#ElectionReady: Once you’re ready to vote, take it a step further by learning how to register your friends, volunteer with organizations, or help run elections!

The Alliance Network has been hard at work this year getting folks #VoteReady for the upcoming midterms. For us, the Civic Holidays and programs like Campus Takeover allow youth organizers to mobilize students and other young voters around elections and create a culture of civic engagement in their communities in creative, innovative, and engaging ways.

Here’s a quick look at what some of our network orgs did this year to celebrate NVEW. 

Nevada

Asian Community Development Council (ACDC) celebrated NVEW on TikTok and Instagram this year by sharing a series of videos corresponding to each action dedicated to each day of the week.

Wisconsin

In coalition with other state partners, Leaders Igniting Transformation (LIT) hosted OctVOTERfest, during NVEW to celebrate and educate Wisconsin voters ahead of the midterms.

Mississippi

The Mississippi Votes team took to social media to celebrate NVEW by partnering with local leader Joe Kennedy to keep Mississippi voters informed and #VoteReady.

Even if you missed out on celebrating NVRD and NVEW, there’s still plenty of opportunities to celebrate the Civic Holidays and defend our democracy.

Vote Early Day

The Alliance has proudly been a partner of Vote Early Day since its inception, and we’re excited to continue the tradition this year on Friday, October 28th! Vote Early Day is a movement of nonprofits, businesses, election administrators, and creatives working to ensure all Americans know their options to vote early and make their voices heard.

Election Hero Day

On Monday, November 7th we are celebrating all of the hard work our election administration teams and poll workers put in to make sure each and every election across the country runs smoothly and successfully. Join us in recognizing these election heroes!

Power the Polls

In 2020, America faced a record shortage of poll workers, and over 700,000 people stepped up via Power the Polls to help address that challenge. This year we are happy to be partnering with Power the Polls because we know our democracy depends on people who make sure every election runs smoothly and everyone’s vote is counted.

As we get closer to Election Day, the Alliance Network is getting young people vote ready while fighting back to defend our democracy.
