John,

This week, we announced that our campaign raised over $1 million in the most recent fundraising quarter. That’s incredible, and it’s thanks to YOUR grassroots support that we’re headed into November on strong footing.

Here’s the kicker: We also got word that my Republican opponent brought in $1.1 million -- narrowly outpacing us. These funds were not raised the same way ours were, and there’s no doubt a large portion of this was self-funded.

When I launched my first campaign back in 2017, longtime consultants and operatives in Washington warned me about self-funding politicians like these. I was also told it was a bad idea to swear off money from corporate PACs if I wanted to compete.

I disagreed.

I believe mega donors and corporate PACs already hold too much influence in our political system. If we have any hope of ending their influence, we can’t accept their cash as a matter of pragmatism.

Today, two election victories later, I’m proud to be among the 12% of members of the House who refuse contributions from corporate PACs.

Has that made raising funds harder? Absolutely. Not only that, it has also invited these same corporate PACs who know I won’t take their cash to direct funds to those opposing me. Look no further than McCarthy’s super PAC that’s running attacks against us.

We’re on the side of what's right in this campaign, and if we stand together, I know we can win this race: Help us push back against the big money working against us by making a contribution of $3 to my re-election campaign.

I’m looking out for your interests – not the interests of corporate PACs hoping to use the political system to their advantage. That’s why I’m depending on (and deeply appreciate) your ongoing support.

Take care,

Mike
