*
________________________________________________________________________
This New Years Eve, Nottingham will welcome 2020 on Old Market Square with a huge free street party and fireworks once again, sponsored by local company Purico in association with Nottingham Care Village.
The event will build on the successful Old Market Square event last year, which took the place of the traditional event staged in previous years on the site of Nottingham Castle.
The family-friendly event will see Nottingham DJ Jeremy Prince Jeremy Prince on the decks in front of the Council House, with a set that is set to feature a musical excursion of popular hits spanning the last 50 years with flavours of disco, dance, soul and reggae to help ensure Nottingham waves farewell to 2019 in style.
At the midnight countdown and the bells of the Council House clock chime midnight, a 10-minute firework and pyrotechnic display will light up the skies around Old Market Square.
The midnight fireworks presented by local company: Sherwood based, 1st Galaxy [ [link removed] ]; will be accompanied for the first time this year by a specially created music soundtrack created by local music producer StarSlinger. Expect 2019 musical highlights, some classic tracks and a uniquely Nottingham themed soundtrack to the fireworks. It includes Nottingham artists Jake Bugg (& Camelphat) and Young T & Bugsey and some of the sounds of the city that everyone will be familiar with a fitting local accompaniment to the display.
The evening concludes with a massed rendition of the traditional Auld Lang Syne.
