We have updated the look of our "AlertMe" emails and we're delighted to share some news, events & programs we think you'll find helpful & interesting as you head into the weekend. Complete our Court Street Survey Take the Court Street Survey Court Street. While many use it to commute, others know it as their neighborhood street. They walk, bike, run & recreate on this beautiful street in the heart of our city. Please take a moment to share your experiences, feedback & suggestions about how we could improve transportation safety along Court Street, with a focus on pedestrian safety. The survey results & potential improvements will be discussed at an upcoming neighborhood meeting. Auburn's October StoryWalk Autumn is a beautiful time to stroll along Auburn's downtown riverfront. While you're there, don't miss our October "Storywalk." This month, our friends at Museum L-A celebrate the told and untold stories of Bates Mill workers to foster community connections and inspire future creativity and ingenuity. If you can't get out to the Riverwalk to enjoy the panels, you can view them online (click the button below). View the October virtual StoryWalk Property Tax Stabilization Program Applications for the Property Tax Stabilization Program are now available. This program allows certain senior-citizen residents to stabilize, or freeze, the property taxes on their homestead Click the button below or stop by the assessing office here at Auburn City Hall for an application. And please be sure to return your application to us here at City Hall! APPLICATION City Offices CLOSED on Monday, October 10 All administrative offices at the City of Auburn will be CLOSED Monday, October 10 in honor of Indigenous People's Day. Many city services are available online at www.auburnmaine.gov. Auburn Public Works and Norway Savings Bank Arena will be open. Curbside trash collection will take place as scheduled.* Halloween is coming! Spooky season is almost here and there is lots of fun to be had in Auburn! Join the Auburn Recreation Department for their annual Fright Fest on October 29. This is a FREE family-friendly event for Auburn residents. There will be 2 sessions: 3PM & 4PM. Pre-registration is required. REGISTER HERE The Auburn PAL Center is also serving up some ghoulish fun with their annual Haunted House! Fall Recreation Programming - something for everyone! The Auburn Recreation Department has just rolled out their AWESOME Fall Program Book! Be sure to check out the impressive list of events, programs & adventures the team at Rec is offering this season. There really is something for everyone, from kids to our age-friendly friends... VIEW FALL PROGRAM GUIDE Auburn Fire Department OPEN HOUSE! Please join the Auburn Fire Department on October 22 for some FREE family fun! Special guests, fire trucks & demonstrations, goodie bags for the kids, and more. Visit the Central Fire station (550 Minot Avenue) on Saturday, October 22 from 10AM - 1PM. Community Forums on Zoning to Create Traditional Neighborhoods Join the City of Auburn on Wednesday, October 19 at 6PM for a virtual informational session with city planning staff regarding zoning to create traditional neighborhoods using Form-Based Code. Tune in via Zoom to view our presentation and ask questions. Pre-registration is not required. On 10/19 at 6PM, click the button below to join the meeting. An in-person version of this meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 25 at 6PM at Fairview School. All are welcome. Safely dispose of these items at the upcoming Free Drug Takeback Day! Join the Auburn Police Department at Bedard Pharmacy (359 Minot Avenue) on Saturday, October 29 between 10AM & 2PM. Simply drive through & drop off your unwanted meds. *Please do NOT bring needles/syringes, items with mercury, or electronic devices. Can't make it to this event? Remember, you can drop your expired, unwanted & unused medications in the APD's drop-box year-round, 24/7. Just visit the Auburn PD at 60 Court Street and head to our lobby on the ground floor.
