As women’s rights to bodily autonomy have now been left up to the states, the governors of our country will have outsized power to safeguard or restrict reproductive healthcare access. New York Governor Kathy Hochul is on the ballot this November against Lee Zeldin – a man who seems to be obsessed with restricting women’s rights and freedoms.

Lee Zeldin has said that, if elected, he would appoint a 'pro-life' health commissioner. In congress, he voted to recognize the legal rights of a fetus, and to enable courts to jail women for having abortions or even miscarriages. He isn't just against a woman's right to choose -- he is against the very notion of women having safety and freedom.

While Hochul brings a fresh and collaborative approach as Governor, her opponent, Representative Lee Zeldin, is known for being a dangerous and anti-choice extremist, and we have to take his candidacy as seriously as possible.

Zeldin’s dangerous ideologies would reverse the progress great leaders of New York, like Governor Hochul, have made before him. We absolutely cannot let that happen. As we have seen this year, even blue states are at risk, and we cannot ignore this threat to our democracy and fundamental rights.
