Making the decision to put your life on the line for our country is one of the bravest and most honorable things an American can do. That’s why I have always worked to pass legislation that seeks to ensure that our veterans and their loved ones have the care and benefits they’re owed when they return home.

Over the past few weeks, I voted for several bipartisan bills that would make life easier for veterans, including:

Solid
Start
Act,
which
would
better
connect
veterans
transitioning
to
civilian
life
with
benefits
and
services
offered
by
the
Department
of
Veterans
Affairs;

The
Food
Security
for
All
Veterans
Act,
which
would
establish
an
Office
of
Food
Security
in
the
VA
to
help
vets
struggling
with
food
insecurity;
*
The
Supporting
Families
of
the
Fallen
Act,
which
would
allow
service
members
and
veterans
to
increase
their
maximum
life
insurance
coverage
by
$100,000
to
ensure
their
families
are
cared
for
in
the
event
tragedy
strikes;
and
many
more.

These bills will build upon the historic PACT Act that we passed into law this summer and provide our veterans with more much-needed relief. I’m proud that throughout my time in Congress, I’ve been a part of dozens of legislative efforts like these to deliver benefits to our veterans, including dental care, child care, and efforts to end veteran homelessness.

I’m willing to vote for any package that upholds America’s end of the bargain to our servicemembers and their families, but there is still a lot of work to do to ensure ALL our veterans have what they need to be secure and healthy.
