John, we were warned about this.
Since the GOP proposed their nationwide abortion ban, health care activists and groups alike have been ringing the alarm on how legislation like this could be detrimental to women across our country. But this newly released memo just put these dangerous effects into perspective.
Studies show that a nationwide GOP abortion ban may increase maternal deaths by 24%, with Black women seeing the highest increase in maternal deaths at 39%. Without the protections of Roe v. Wade and our Democratic majority on the line this November, this could become our reality. But, John, I’m not going to back down without a fight. That’s why I stood with my colleagues outside of our Capitol Building and called out these findings for all to hear.
Democrats in Congress are focused on supporting maternal health through expanding Medicaid, ACA subsidies, and more. But to continue our work, we need your help.

We already see the devastating effects of restrictive abortion bans right here in Ohio. Recent court findings show at least two minors who were sexually assaulted were forced to leave Ohio to receive treatment, on top of countless others. But the women of Ohio are ready to fight back.
Ohio saw the second-highest jump in voter registration in the weeks after Roe v. Wade was overturned. With a 7% increase, women in Ohio make up nearly 54% of all registered voters. We must continue to build on this momentum and hold our Democratic majority in Congress to ensure we can protect our critical abortion rights.
