My campaign team and I are a little on edge as we enter October. There’s a term, “October surprise,” which is used to describe a new, last-minute development in a race that can throw everything off course.

Now look, I’ve said for months that this race is winnable. And now, I’m feeling more confident than ever that we can flip NY-11 blue. A new poll even shows that I'm within striking distance of my opponent's campaign. But one thing we cannot afford is for an October surprise to throw off our trajectory and upend this race.

JOHN, we are way too close to the election for any October surprises to throw us off our game. Can you chip in as much as you can to help us avoid any hiccups that might slow us down?

We can win this race in November, but in order to do that, we need to ensure that we have enough in the bank to protect our campaign from any surprises.

What’s an example of an October surprise? Glad you asked!

An October surprise could be anything from a new poll showing a shift in the race, my opponent raising more than expected last quarter, or the GOP funneling unprecedented money into this race to save Nicole Malliotakis from losing to us. All of these could shift our race big time.

I’m running because I know I’ll fight for this district and get the job done. You can count on me to step up to the plate to protect reproductive rights, ban deadly weapons of war, and help build an economy that works for you. I know South Brooklyn and Staten Island want these things because I’m having conversations with people across this district every single day.

Election Day is just around the corner and we can’t risk hitting any bumps in the road before then.
