Republican Party of Wisconsin

October 7, 2022

John –

We only have less than 5 weekends remaining to make sure that Wisconsinites across our state know the truth about Ron Johnson, Tim Michels, Mandela Barnes, and Tony Evers. We still have plenty of ground to cover and need every single Republican to do their part.

Please sign up to join us in one of the 5 remaining weekends to volunteer by filling out this form, or visit one of our field offices around the state which you can find here.

Tonight, Sen. Ron Johnson and Mandela Barnes will take the stage together for the first time in the first of two scheduled debates in the race for US Senate. You can find where to tune in by visiting HERE. This evening, Wisconsinites will have the chance to hear from Ron and Mandela in their own words about where they stand on the issues. They will see that Mandela Barnes is a radical, far-left socialist who, as a member of the US Senate, would seek to force policies on all of America like full-term abortions, the elimination of cash bail, and further inflation-driving reckless spending. Be sure to tune in tonight at 7PM!

Gov. Tony Evers called the Wisconsin Legislature back into an extraordinary session on September 21, 2022. Evers hoped to do away with our abortion ban that has been in effect and protecting life since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. The Republican Legislature said, “No.” On Wednesday morning, Assembly Speak Pro Tempore Tyler August and Senate President Chris Kapenga gaveled in and gaveled out their respective chambers: ending the Governor’s ill-fated attempt to bring abortion on demand back to Wisconsin. This marks the second time that the Legislature has had to shut down attempts by Evers to use extraordinary sessions to reinstitute abortion in Wisconsin, in addition to another special session that was called to restrict our Second Amendment rights.

This week, the Tavern League of Wisconsin endorsed both Tim Michels for Governor and Ron Johnson for US Senate! These endorsements were both awarded at TLW’s Fall Convention & Trade Show in Wisconsin Dells this week. The Tavern League is the largest trade association in the US to exclusively represent the interests of licensed beverage retailers, with over 5,000 members across the Badger State. Ron Johnson even recreated his famous beer chug from 2016 when he last received TLW’s endorsement!

Last week, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported on past tweets from Mandela Barnes that were extremely controversial. One of these tweets mocked the attempted assassination of Rep. Steve Scalise, the US House Minority Whip, that Mandela characterized as, “Taking one for the team. I question how people vote against self interest but this is next level. He literally almost died on this hill.” Rather than do the right thing and apologize, Barnes doubled down: claiming that because he was frustrated at the time and has personally known people injured by gun violence, that he stood by his comments. Sen. Johnson, Rep. Scalise, and RPW won’t let Mandela’s comments slide, though, and that’s why Rep. Scalise joined Dan O’Donnell earlier this week while Sen. Johnson’s campaign launched an ad campaign about this disgusting smear. Beyond the words themselves, the would-be assassin was a staunch supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders—whose endorsement Mandela has been touting since entering the race for US Senate—disgusting!

In Case You Missed It…

Michels Campaign Statement on Tony Evers’ Damage Control

In an effort to cloak over his disastrous record on crime, today Tony Evers announced more funding within a theoretical state budget that won’t matter when he loses in 32 days. Of the imaginary funds, he announced only 10 percent for public safety.

New Document Proves Evers’ Culpability on Paroles

Tony Evers and his administration admitted behind closed doors that his paroles are unpopular, and as a result, they have made Wisconsin less safe. The public opposes his early release philosophy for convicted murders and rapists, and a new document made public by Sen. Van Wanggaard’s office confirms that Evers and his staff asked Parole Commission Chairman John Tate II to resign out of fear of political pushback.

Republicans gain ground in Senate races in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin

After a grueling summer, Republicans are finally making headway in protecting their top two firewalls in the race for the Senate. Holding onto at least one of the GOP-held seats in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania — ideally both — is critical if the party wants to flip the Senate. But Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson and Pennsylvania Republican Senate nominee Mehmet Oz began the general election with poor favorability ratings and a spending disadvantage on TV.

Tim Michels says he is open to a flat income tax for Wisconsin

Republican candidate for governor Tim Michels is signaling he is open to enacting a flat income tax in Wisconsin but would not pursue a plan if it raised taxes on the residents with the lowest incomes.

Why did Tony Evers Only Rescind Douglas Balsewicz’s Parole?

According to Tony Evers, the buck never stops with him. As Wisconsinites discover the brutal murderers, child rapists, and wife decapitators released by his Parole Commission, the absentee governor has been quick to claim that he has no influence over paroles. Simultaneously, Evers has referenced his letter to his twice-appointed Parole Commissioner John Tate asking him to reconsider parole for murderer Douglas Balsewicz due to public pressure.

Sen. Johnson Wants To Save Social Security And Medicare

Americans are concerned about the future of our nation's economy, and they have every reason to be. Record inflation, rising prices at the pump, increased grocery costs, and supply chain shortages have been crippling families and small businesses around the country and there seems to be no end in sight.
