John,
On Monday, news broke that former football player Herschel Walker, who has supported a national abortion ban with no exceptions for cases involving rape, incest, or a woman’s health being at risk, paid for his girlfriend to have an abortion over a decade ago. [1]
Hypocrisy much?
Well, not quite: this is not the first time we’ve seen this blatant posturing about being pro-life while secretly accessing abortion behind the scenes.
Their aim has always been clear: it's not ‘pro life’ – it’s pro-control.
This ‘do as I say, not as I do’ mentality is standard to them. Just like how they call themselves pro-women while supporting a president who bragged about sexual assault or that they are pro-children while striking down sensible gun legislation or supporting policy that separated immigrant families seeking a better life.
Abortion access is a vital part of health care, sexual health, and family planning. They know it; that’s why they want access to it – it’s just not for you.
In 2017, we put up billboards in former Congressman Tim Murphy’s district, after it came out that the anti-abortion conservative had suggested to his mistress that she have an abortion during a pregnancy scare. [2] We also protested at the Value Voter Summit – a convening organized by the Family Research Council and attended by the extreme right wing to call out this double standard of so many supposedly “pro-life” men. [3]
We’re working hard to showcase what we all know: They don’t care about women. They don’t care about children. They care about themselves.
Sincerely,
Erin Matson

P.S. Don’t let them back-peddle their way out of these double standards. Give today to help hold them accountable.
