[1]Ruben Gallego for Arizona

I know we are in the heat of an election, but my first priority is always my work in Congress.

So I wanted to take a moment to tell you about a bill I just introduced called the “Fight for the American Dream Act,” legislation that creates a pathway for DACA recipients to join the United States Military.

Here is the truth:

DACA recipients were brought here as kids. They’ve gone to colleges, started businesses, and raised their families here. This is the country they call home.

Most people don’t know that immigrants from all corners of the world can join our armed forces, but DACA recipients are excluded from that.

My bill fixes that.

Ten years ago, President Obama took a bold step forward in the fight for a fairer, more compassionate immigration system.

In the decade since, DACA has protected hundreds of thousands of young people, including 60,000 who call Arizona home.

It has allowed them to pursue their dreams by going to college or working, and has helped grow our state, and our country’s economy, culture and community for the better.

It’s time to let these young people pursue their dreams of giving back to the country they call home through service in the United States military.

Thank you,

Ruben

Ruben Gallego is up for re-election this November and needs your help. Please contribute $5, $10 or whatever you can to his campaign today. It all adds up when we’re all chipping in. We’ll put the donation right to work turning out Democrats in Ruben’s district to help him win, and to help statewide Democrats like Mark Kelly as well.
