Women's March

John — our Women’s Wave weekend of action starts TODAY.

From our DC march on Saturday to smaller gatherings and marches in cities across the country this weekend, we’re channeling our collective power around the fight for abortion rights.

To win that fight, we HAVE to destigmatize abortion. And that starts with you.

That starts by sharing our experiences with abortion care, discussing our values and why we are pro-abortion, and engaging with friends and family who need to learn more. As our final action this weekend, we’re asking you to have one of those conversations — but first, we’ve got some tips:

Heart-to-Heart Abortion Conversations by the National Network of Abortion Funds will help YOU have those important conversations to reduce stigma and build power for abortion care in your own network.

One important way we can destigmatize abortion? To state loudly and unapologetically that we are PRO-ABORTION.

When we frame the issue of abortion around “choice,” we ignore the fact that for too many people, abortion is not easily accessible. “Choice” makes it seem like getting an abortion is as easy as making the decision. It is not.

Our constitutional right to reproductive health care is no longer guaranteed by the courts, and systemic barriers have always kept lower-income people and people of color from accessing reproductive care.

If there is only one abortion provider within a couple hundred miles of you, that means you have to organize transportation and perhaps child care and take time off work or school — all on top of having the money to pay for the procedure. If you live in a state where abortion is banned, it’s even harder.

That is not reproductive freedom.

We can’t stop fighting until every person who wants an abortion is able to get one.

And that’s where abortion funds come in, John.

Local abortion funds provide financial and logistical support to people in their communities who need support accessing abortion care — but they can’t do their critical work alone.

We’re asking our team of fierce feminists to join us and support an abortion fund today. Click here to find a fund near you, then donate anything you can to make their mission possible. 100% of your contribution will go to the fund you choose >>>
