We're nearly two weeks away from the October 24th voter registration deadline, John! Here's your reminder to double check your voting status, especially if you've recently moved or changed your last name. Here's what you need to know as we approach Election Day in the Commonwealth.

Dates to Know

October 24, 2022: Last day to REGISTER before the November election 

 

November 1, 2022: Last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot

 

November 8, 2022: Election Day! Last day for County Boards of Elections to receive vote by mail and civilian absentee ballots (must be received by 8:00 P.M.)

Max Baer, Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s chief justice, dies.

 

Max Baer, the chief justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, has died only months before he was set to retire, the court confirmed Saturday. He was 74.

 

Baer died overnight at his home near Pittsburgh, the court said in a news release. The court didn’t give a reason for his death but called his “sudden passing” a “tremendous loss for the court and all of Pennsylvania.”

 

The court said Justice Debra Todd now becomes chief justice “as the justice of longest and continuous service on the court.” She is the first female chief justice in the commonwealth’s history, a court spokesperson confirmed. Read more >>

A Quick Reminder to PA Students

All students must be registered in the county they plan to vote in by October 8. Whether voting on campus or back home, students MUST reside in their county for a full month before they are able to vote. Pass it on!
