Huge news, John!
President Joe Biden just announced that he is pardoning all prior federal offenses for simple marijuana possession, calling on governors to do the same at the state level, and ordering the review of marijuana’s classification as a Schedule 1 Drug.
This is a BFD!!! It’s a *massive* step towards making weed legal, safe, and pure for medicinal + recreational use by adults across the country.
And thanks to President Biden’s pardon, we’re also moving closer to expunging all marijuana records and releasing all those incarcerated for using the plant.
If you know me, John, you know I’ve always supported legal weed. When I heard President Biden would be in Pittsburgh a month ago, I knew that if I had a chance to sit down with him, I would use that opportunity to talk about the need to decriminalize marijuana. And that’s exactly what I did. 💪💪💪
Now one month later, President Biden is taking action — and I commend the president for taking this significant, necessary, and just step to right a wrong + better the lives of millions of Americans.
With your support, I’ll continue to be the LOUDEST (and tbh, probably the tallest) champion for legal weed + marijuana justice in the U.S. Senate. Plus, we’ll have the opportunity to win more major victories like this.
To be clear, the last time I smoked weed in earnest was at Burning Man in 1999.
