Friend,
Today, President Biden announced that he was pardoning all federal cannabis convictions and urging Governors to follow suit.
This is a huge win -- and it's because of the tireless organizing by so many advocates, including victims of the war on drugs and their families.
We know that through the deadly combination of over-policing and criminalization, BIPOC communities are more likely to be convicted of cannabis possession, and these pardons are a crucial step towards undoing some of that harm.
I'm proud to have been a part of this movement for years. From fighting for federal decriminalization to advocating for minority-owned dispensaries to championing banking rights for cannabis businesses, I'm committed to working towards cannabis justice.
So I hope you'll join me in taking a moment to celebrate with everyone whose lives have been changed by these pardons -- and in getting back to work. [[link removed]]
This isn't the end, but it's a big deal, and I'm so proud to have been a part of it.
In solidarity,
Nydia
