Three reasons to celebrate. 🎉 And one reason we’re holding our breath…

We did it! Or rather—you did it. In a year when the meat industry has escalated its efforts to unravel animal welfare protections, you came through on World Farm Animals Day. Your advocacy is powering our collective efforts to end animal abuse. Because of your support, the defense for animals is stronger than ever.

Victory by victory, we’re sending a strong message to the industry that change is happening. A more compassionate world is possible, and we’re building it together. Here are just a few reasons to celebrate:

1. HelloFresh, the largest meal kit company in the world, followed through on its commitments to end the worst abuses of chickens raised for meat.

2. RiteAid, PokeWorks, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and Japanese restaurant giant Toridoll all pledged to spare egg-laying hens from the worst forms of confinement.

3. Over 100,000 supporters like you have sent messages to meat industry giants to demand change for chickens! This incredible wave of action fueled over one million messages sent to key decision-makers. We got the industry’s attention in a big way—and we’re not slowing down.
All eyes are now on the US Supreme Court, where in just days from now our legal team will be making its case to defend what is considered the strongest animal welfare law in the world: Proposition 12.

Just as you came together for animals on World Farm Animals Day, our movement is united in this critical moment. While The Humane League and our allied animal protection organizations are representing animals in court, our colleagues at Mercy For Animals have just released evidence from a heartbreaking investigation that shines a light on the cruel cages that the pig industry is fighting so hard to keep.

It will take all of us to realize the compassionate future we’re building together. But I feel hopeful knowing that our community remains relentless. Your presence in this movement matters, and we’re grateful for you.

P.S. The meat industry is fighting hard precisely because the momentum in our movement is significant. As we create lasting change for the animals, the way that we show up—and keep showing up—matters. Stay tuned for updates on Prop 12—I’ll be in touch in the coming days as this important case goes before the US Supreme Court.
