Dear MoveOn member,

The committee investigating the January 6 insurrection has just released
stunning video footage of longtime Donald Trump adviser Roger Stone two
months before January 6 describing how Trump would use violence to
overturn the election results.

"F*ck the voting. Let's get right to the violence," Stone says in the
video.^1

The footage also shows Stone describing how Trump would use phony claims
of voter fraud to throw out election results and declare himself the
winner.

It's among the clearest evidence yet that the January 6 attack was planned
in advance with the knowledge of Trump and those closest to him. But more
importantly, it's a warning about how far Trump will go in 2024 to regain
power.

In fact, Trump's next attempted coup is already underway. In battleground
states all over the country, Trump-aligned Big Lie election deniers are
running for secretary of state, the key position that oversees our
elections, counts votes, and certifies the results.^2 If these Trump
cronies win, the legitimacy of the 2024 election will be in serious
danger.

That's why MoveOn is alerting voters about these Big Lie election
deniers—with targeted ads, texts, phone calls, mailers, social media, and
more. But with just one month left before Election Day, we've fallen
behind our fundraising goals, and we need MoveOn members to chip in right
now to make sure we don't have to scale back our plans.

Will you chip in $3 a week through Election Day to help defend our
democracy and stop Trump from stealing the 2024 election? (MoveOn will
bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a month starting today
and will contact you shortly after the election to see if you want to
modify or cancel your weekly donation.)

[ [link removed] ]No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in weekly.

As a MoveOn member, you've probably heard about the Trump-backed
candidates for secretary of state around the country.

But most Americans haven't.

Historically, elections for secretaries of state have tended to be
low-profile races with relatively little controversy. As a result, the
media tend not to pay much attention.

But this year, Trump allies—including white supremacists who were present
at the January 6 insurrection and those who claim the 2020 election was
stolen—are running to take over our elections in Nevada, Arizona,
Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.^3

If they win, they will have the power to shut down polling places, purge
voter lists, and declare Trump the winner in 2024 no matter who actually
got the most votes.

So earlier this year, we made a big decision: For the first time in our
history, MoveOn announced endorsements in secretary of state races and a
multimillion-dollar campaign to stop Trump's allies from taking over our
elections.

However, we've now fallen significantly behind our fundraising goals, and
if we aren't able to close that gap, we may have to scale back our plans.

So we're asking you today: Will you chip in $3 a week to help defend our
democracy and stop Trump's Big Lie candidates for secretary of
state? (MoveOn will bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a
month starting today and will contact you shortly after the election to
see if you want to modify or cancel your weekly donation.)

Roger Stone founded "Stop the Steal" and has been one of Donald Trump's
closest political advisers for years, working as a lobbyist for Trump's
casinos in the 1990s.^4

He worked on Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, orchestrating a massive
disinformation effort through hundreds of fake Facebook accounts.^5 In
2019, Stone was convicted on a series of charges related to the Mueller
investigation but was later pardoned by Trump.^6

And today, Stone remains one of Trump's closest allies and supporters.
That's why the video footage of Stone promising violence in the run-up to
the 2020 election is so chilling.

Trump's next coup is already underway, and to stop him, we must prevent
his allies from taking over the key offices that oversee our elections. We
cannot scale back our efforts to reach voters, but we must hit our
fundraising goals in order to move forward. Will you chip in $3 a
week? (MoveOn will bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a
month starting today and will contact you shortly after the election to
see if you want to modify or cancel your weekly donation.)
