Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of co-hosting our annual Caribbean Day Reception alongside my friend Stacey Plaskett in honor of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Conference.
We were joined by special guest Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick and had a BLAST celebrating our shared Caribbean heritage.
This year’s Annual Legislative Conference theme was “Advancing Our Purpose. Elevating Our Power.” and that couldn’t be more appropriate as we head toward November. We need to continue the work we’ve all done in Congress to elevate our needs and fight for our people.
From canceling student debt to holding insurrectionists accountable, we’ve accomplished so much in the past few years, but our work is just getting started. Stacey and I will stop at nothing to fight for lower health care costs, address the cost of living, and hold Republicans accountable, as Stacey has so gracefully done in the past during Trump’s impeachment trial.
We all win when Black women lead. Period. I’m proud to call Stacey my friend and colleague, and I look forward to serving with her once again after we both win our re-elections in November!
