Let me be as clear and direct as I can possible be about gas prices in California, and nationally, right now:

Oil companies are ripping you off.

Here are the facts:

Crude oil prices are DOWN and yet...gas prices are up. It doesn’t add up, and oil companies provide no explanation.

But I do know this:

Oil companies recently announced record profits and in a few weeks they’re going to announce more record profits on top of those record profits.

Those profits are coming at YOUR expense.

They are ripping you off.

And they are laughing all the way to the bank while making the planet uninhabitable for future generations.

That ends now.

We’re going to do something about it in California.

I am calling for a WINDFALL TAX on companies engaged in extraction, production and refining oil so their excess profits go DIRECTLY back into the pockets of Californians.

I’m just not going to stand by while millions of people are getting ripped off.

But it will have to pass the legislature to happen, and I want them to know you’re with me:

Please sign my petition — say you support a windfall tax on oil companies that are making record profits and still continuing to raise gas prices on Californians, and all Americans.
