Outside spending on 2022 federal midterm elections topped $1 billion, surpassing the nearly $701.8 million spent by outside groups through Oct. 4 during the 2018 midterms.

She is a senior at Florida Atlantic University studying political science and communication, and is also a staff writer for the University Press. Prior to OpenSecrets, Rayna interned with a political campaign in Maryland and with Vote Smart.
Keith Newell
Keith Newell joined OpenSecrets in September 2022 as a Reporting Intern. He is a master’s student at American University’s School of Communication, studying investigative journalism. Prior to OpenSecrets, Keith conducted research for the Washington Post, tracking lawsuits alleging voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
Filip Timotija
Filip Timotija joined OpenSecrets in 2022 as a Reporting Intern. He is a rising senior at Whitworth University studying journalism. Prior to OpenSecrets, Filip was a news intern at The Daily Progress where he covered a variety of beats. He is currently serving as a Sports Editor at The Whitworthian.
