DOWNBALLOT
John, this has us more worried than ever.

FiveThirtyEight is reporting that the Supreme Court is on the verge of killing the Voting Rights Act this term.

This would have widespread implications, opening the door to millions of voters being disenfranchised. Even worse, many state legislatures have already begun to enact an era of voter suppression — in the past year alone, 18 states have passed 34 laws that restrict access to voting.

Republican state lawmakers know that when more people turnout to vote, progressives win, and they’ll do anything to stop it.

But there’s a way to fight back: build progressive power in state legislatures so our representatives will do the work to protect our rights through passing bills like a state Voting Rights Act.

New York’s state legislature passed a Voting Rights Act and every state must swiftly do the same. It is the only way to protect our rights – because the right-wing Supreme Court won’t.

But here’s the thing: the GOP is raking in millions, intent on maintaining the status quo of voter suppression and silencing progressive voices. We don’t have billionaires bankrolling our movement, but we do have YOU, John.

A grassroots donation today could help us protect the voting rights of millions of people.

Progressives are the only ones we can count on to save our voting rights — will you chip in today to support our efforts to build progressive power?
