Last night, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in Texas v. United States ruled that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is unlawful and remanded the case back to the U.S. Federal District Court in Texas to decide on the legality of the Biden Administration’s new DACA rule.

In 2021, the reevaluated SNAP benefit per person per meal was only $1.87 – less than today’s cost for a gallon of milk, about $4.40 due to inflation. While harmful narratives claim that SNAP recipients aren’t well-educated on a healthy diet, the harsh reality is that benefits are insufficient to afford both healthy and culturally appropriate foods. Furthermore, people of color often live in neighborhoods impacted by food deserts and food apartheid, where access to healthy and affordable food is limited. [[link removed]]
