JOHN,

Here’s a secret you may not know about me: I love meeting voters and showing up for people. I discovered my love of community service and organizing through the church a long time ago, but learned how much I love political campaigning when I flipped my Missouri House district from red to blue in 2019, and won again in 2020 to hold that seat. 

I never thought I’d be running as a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, but this country is truly in an extraordinary situation right now. 

Working families need help. 

The politics of division and overheated rhetoric isn’t working. We need people in Congress who can relate to the needs of everyday people, and put in the work to do something about it. 

When I’m knocking on doors and talking with voters, they tell me they’ve reached out to Ann. But it doesn’t seem like she’s ever met with anyone who couldn’t help her politically. 

Well I can promise you, that’s not me. When I think of my best days spent as a state representative, it’s the moments when I present kindergartners with certificates from the state for graduation. It’s when I can help a constituent make their voice heard on a bill that’s deeply important to them. It’s when I can look a voter in the eye and commit to showing up for them. 

I commit to show up for the people I will serve, and be present in times of need—actually be there, not just pretend to care on social media or for well-staged photo ops. It's more than anyone can say about Ann Wagner, who has had 10 years to show up for people and instead has brazenly chosen to listen only to campaign contributors and partisan operatives. 

Enough is enough, and for these reasons I am proud to be in this race and running this campaign the way it should be run: putting the people first, and earning every single vote we get through hard work and persistence.
