The Humanitarian Awards are presented to those who have significantly helped to further our mission of building healthy relationships, families and communities free from sexual, domestic and interpersonal violence. 

Dr. Barbara Ferrer is a nationally-known public health leader with over 30 years of professional experience as a philanthropic strategist, public health director, educational leader, researcher, and community advocate. She has been committed to violence prevention throughout her career and has prioritized recognizing violence as a public health issue, connecting the dots and the issues surrounding women’s health, gender based violence prevention, sexual and domestic violence, criminal justice, social justice, mental health, and accessibility. She is currently the leader of the LA Department of Public Health and has been a strong and steady force leading the city through the COVID-19 pandemic.
