A publication of Christian Action Network News commentator, Brian Mudd, talks about Stephen Colbert calling Jesus a 'cuck'Martin Mawyer is a guest on the Brian Mudd show after Stephen Colbert blasphemes Jesus Christ
News commentator Brian Mudd says Christians must draw a line in the sand after Colbert calls Jesus a ‘cuck.’ (This article has some minor editing changes to present in a written format) Host Brian Mudd: Joining us to talk about this is the President of the Christian Action Network, Martin Mawyer. I was referencing his article and check out his Subtsack article as well: Martinmawyer.substack.com. So I walked through with our listeners Colbert’s characterization of Jesus as a ‘cuck.’ Including your posing the question about whether there will be Christian outrage. Evidently not, since there hasn’t been. I mean, walk us through this and share with us your concerns. Martin Mawyer: At this point, I’m shocked that there isn’t Christian outrage. I had asked my pastor whether or not our organization, Christian Action Network, should make a big deal of this and his immediate response was that he doesn’t think Christians would greatly care that Stephen Colbert called our Lord and Savior a cuck. And when you go to New York Times to look up what the word cuck means, I will read it to you. “The word cuck is short hold for cuckold, which is a subgenre of pornography in which a hapless husband is forced not only to watch his wife have sex with another man, but oh dear, I had better stop.” So even the New York Times thought that if they went ahead and further described what a cuckold is and does, maybe that wouldn’t be good for publication. So they stopped. Healthline says that “a cuckold is a fetish or kink in which a person gets turned on by their partner having sex with someone else. The modern day cuckold, who’s not necessarily a cisgender or heterosexual male is fully aware and heartily approves of their partner’s affairs.” So here you have Steven Colbert on his September 15 episode saying, “Just like that cuck, Jesus,” basically referring to Jesus Christ as someone who enjoys watching his lovers have sex. And if you further understand what the word cuckold means, you’ll also understand why the writer for the New York Times decided that, well, he had said enough. Now to describe Jesus in that type of language is, I think, quite offensive to Christians. And it always amazes me that just about every other group and organization on the progressive or the woke side is ready to defend their behavior and their leaders. But Christians somehow just fold their hands and remain silent. And we’re talking about Jesus Christ here. Jesus is the person they are preaching to the world for salvation, saying: “We want you to accept this individual and his Godliness into your heart.” So that’s a pretty big message that you’re trying to convince people to accept. But on the other hand, you’re allowing the media and others to use the public airwaves to describe Jesus as someone that no one would want to allow into their heart. And I think it’s just amazing that there’s not a lot of Christian outrage. However, I do want to say this. If your listeners want to express their outrage, go to our website at christianaction.org. I have a petition up there ready for people to sign to CBS demanding that they issue a public apology over something they said over the public airwaves and that they either suspend or terminate Stephen Colbert until he issues such an apology. Host Brian Mudd: Yeah, I mean, we need to address this because the question is: If it becomes open season on Jesus, what are the implications? Especially as we have continued to walk down this path with our society for a long time, I have not paid attention to Stephen Colbert, like, ever. But I’m glad that you have paid attention to this and are drawing attention to it because somewhere, we’ve got to draw a line in the sand, and this would seem to be a place. Martin, I appreciate your time. And again, once more, on that website? Martin Mawyer: Christianaction.org. It’s at the top of the website. Please sign the petition, and let’s create Christian outrage. Host Brian Mudd: All right, Martin Mawyer, I appreciate it. |
