Dear John,

The holidays are here and a new year is upon us. I wish you, as well as Syrians of all faiths and denominations, a Merry Christmas and a blessed holiday season.

As a young Christian, I was fortunate to experience the wonders of this season in our beloved Syria. Memories of walking the old streets of Damascus—the carolers, lit Christmas trees, nativity mangers, churches filled with the faithful—will stay with me forever.

Each Christmas, I share stories of spending this holiday with my Syrian neighbors of all faiths and backgrounds, celebrating the millenia-old mosaic of Syria’s religious diversity. These memories give me great hope that, despite the dark days of Assad’s tyranny, we will always be united as Syrians.

That's why I continue working with lawmakers in Washington: to ensure our vision of a peaceful, unified Syria is realized.

We need your help to keep moving our vision forward. As the year comes to a close, I ask each of you to please consider supporting this work, and to pray for a future where all Syrians can live in peace.

May the spirit of Christmas be with each and every one of you.

Sincerely,

Mirna Barq
