Friends, I just wanted to send a note of gratitude. Last week I shared that if we reached our End-of-Quarter goal, then my staff would let me leave call time early this week to knock on doors. Cash is essential to keeping our campaign strong, but between dialing-for-dollars and talking to voters, I’m always going to prefer the latter.
Thanks to your support, we hit our goal, and I got to hit the pavement! At every doorstep I’m learning a new story, but I’ve noticed the same fears come up time and again. From my conversations, it’s clear our district is aching for a representative that will focus on climate action, voting rights, and abortion access.
Our neighbors are scared for the safety of their homes, families, and environment as the wildfires rage and climate change only worsens. They’re pissed about the far-right push to restrict access to the ballot box and overturn free and fair elections. And there is serious concern around my opponent’s anti-choice record, and the GOP’s plan to pass a nationwide abortion ban if they take the majority in November.
I want you to know that I am listening, and I will take action. I swore an oath to serve our country when I joined the Navy, and I took the hippocratic oath when I became a doctor. If I win in November I will take the oath of office to uphold the Constitution, but today I want to swear an oath to you, the voters, that if we win, I will take with me to Congress your stories, your fears, and your hope-filled dreams.
The time for change is now. It can’t wait.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kermit Jones
