Hello Friend,

As a direct result of our advocacy, Prince George’s County increased funding for reentry services from zero dollars to $300,000 in 2021. But we are still pushing for an Office of Returning Citizens Affairs to form and operate a transition center for our returning residents so they can have fair access to resources to survive upon release. 

Also last year, during the 2021 Legislative Session, we successfully repealed the Law Enforcement Officer’s Bill of Rights. But we are still fighting to remove School Resource Officers from our public schools so that our children can learn in a safer environment without the violence of police or the doom of the school-to-prison pipeline. 

Progressive Maryland has been advocating for justice and resources for our communities with great success, but there is still so much more work to be done. 
On October 13th, we invite you to hear from three of our powerhouse task forces to learn about our current goals with an important election upcoming, how our work directly impacts everyday Marylanders and how you can take action with us to help create real change. 

At our virtual town hall on the 13th, you will hear from the following task forces on major goals:

Justice Task Force – police reform/accountability policy and research, and school safety alternatives
Drug Policy Task Force – Equitable cannabis legalization in Maryland
Returning Citizens Task Force – Ensuring returning citizens have access to housing, jobs, healthcare, and the vote.

Attendees will be given the opportunity to have group conversations about the work of their choice and be provided with immediate and future opportunities to get directly involved.

We have some fantastic, dedicated members and community leaders lined up to speak truth to power about the necessary changes we are collectively working toward so Maryland families and returning residents can be liberated from ongoing oppression and systemic harm.We’d love to have you at the table in the fight for justice.
