Left’s Embrace of Lawlessness, “Defund the Police” at the Heart of Crime Crisis – Every American deserves to live in a community that is safe and allows its citizens to thrive. However, considering the left’s push to defund and demoralize the police, and the soft-on-crime agenda of rogue prosecutors across our country that refuse to prosecute entire categories of crime, it’s no wonder violent crime in the United States has continued its steady climb with no sign of stopping. The FBI report provided data on over 11 million criminal offenses committed in 2021, but that number is an undercount of the total number of crimes committed. Out of more than 18,000 law enforcement agencies across the country, the FBI only received data from approximately 9,800 of them. As a result, these 2021 stats fail to fully capture the crime wave that has erupted in cities that have elected rogue prosecutors and/or defunded the police. Despite this incomplete data set, the FBI’s numbers still showcase an alarming increase in violent crime, showing a 5.6% increase over the already high 2020 levels. Murders increased 4.3% from 2020. The criminal justice system must enforce our laws, prosecute criminals, and ensure public safety. That is why lawmakers at all levels must empower law enforcement and prosecutors to do their jobs and investigate, arrest, and prosecute lawbreakers. Heritage Expert: Cully Stimson and Zack Smith
Election Software Executive Arrested on Suspicion of Theft - This is a prime example of how the bias of the New York Times and liberal media against any claims of election irregularities or fraud drives their “news” coverage. This reporter jumped to conclusions that there was no legitimacy to the claims that election data was being stored on Chinese servers without doing a thorough, in-depth investigation of the charges. The arrest of an executive of this election services company raises serious issues that must be investigated not just by local authorities in Los Angeles, but also by the FBI and the National Security Division of the Justice Department. Unless, of course, they are too preoccupied with going after “domestic terrorists” like parents concerned over the propaganda being forced on their children or pro-life activists exercising their First Amendment rights to speak out. Biden does full flip on voter fraud – In a recent White House proclamation, President Biden called for Congress to pass the “Freedom to Vote Act,” which imposes national Election Day voter registration requirements, automatic voter registration and mail-in voting requirements on states. While researching my new book, “The Myth of Voter Suppression: The Left’s Assault on Clean Elections,” I found a startling metamorphosis for Biden. Biden supports federal voting legislation that would seemingly help Democrats and opposes state legislation that could help Republicans. Heritage Expert: Fred Lucas
‘Stigma’ Prevented California Health Officials From Closing Bathhouses Amid Monkeypox Spread – San Francisco and California state health officials knew monkeypox was spreading through gay or bisexual men who went to bathhouses and international festivals but hesitated to create a “stigma” by communicating these details and closing such venues, according to emails obtained by The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project. Much of the internal communication between and among San Francisco city officials in early June focused on messaging for bathhouses, as well as “sex clubs” catering to gay and bisexual men. Flyers about monkeypox needed to be “community centered, specifically in the lgbt [LGBT] areas,” one such email said. However, another email shared among government communications officials across California warned: “The implicit headline I’m afraid of is “Health officers say gay men will spread monkeypox at Pride weekend.” Heritage Expert: Roman Jankowski
Drag Queen Conservatism is the Real Threat to Religious Freedom – Times have changed. Now Christians who adhere to biblical sexual ethics feel intense public pressure to keep their beliefs private. The LGBT community, conversely, is affirmed and supported by every institution in the country, from the federal government to professional sports leagues. Drag queen conservatives have a choice to make. The past 20 years have proven that our cultural norms will always be shaped by someone’s worldview and values. We will either have a society that believes adults sexualizing children in libraries, schools, and public venues is a protected form of speech or one that condemns such behavior with the righteous indignation it deserves. What I’m Seeing on Texas’ Border With Mexico – Americans “need to understand that what’s happening here is moving into their backyards,” Chapoy said. “And Martha’s Vineyard … that was nothing, that was just 50 [migrants],” she said, referring to the 48 illegal immigrants from Venezuela flown by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis earlier this month to the resort island off the coast of Massachusetts. Local leaders in Texas border towns such as Del Rio and Eagle Pass say migrants pass through their communities every day, but they’re not staying. Instead, they’re moving into the interior of the United States. To fix the situation at the southern border, Martinez said, both sides “have to come together and work together to solve this problem.” “The problem … is that the far Right and the far Left outnumber the people that are going to get things done,” the sheriff said. Martinez said he knows that citizens of other countries want to go to America to “better themselves,” but believes they must “do it legally.” The problem, he said, is “there’s not a mechanism in place that would make [immigration] flow smoothly without, you know, taking years in the pipeline, in the system, because it’s broken everywhere.” Heritage Experts: Virginia Allen and Simon Hankinson
How Fed-induced inflation is battering your wallet – As interest rates rise, borrowing costs increase. When people with adjustable-rate mortgages see their monthly payments balloon to unaffordable levels, those homeowners quickly realize that they do not own their homes after all. Foreclosures are already rising. Credit card debt, which has been growing at some of the fastest rates on record, also becomes unaffordable as interest charges on outstanding balances explode. American families, already strapped for cash after inflation ate away their disposable incomes, now have less money left to cover ever-growing interest charges on auto loans, mortgages, credit card debt, student loans and more. Unable to afford as much as before, the consumer must reduce spending — something Washington should be doing. Since consumer spending accounts for about three-quarters of GDP, this contracts the economy, leading to layoffs and unemployment. The unemployed have even less money to spend, exacerbating the problem. Thus, we arrive at the downward spiral, which is already underway. Heritage Expert: EJ Antoni
