Call your member of Congress today!
John,
This evening, a federal court sided with an earlier ruling against DACA, sending the case to a lower court to consider it in the context of new rules from the Biden administration. The court is allowing current DACA recipients to maintain their status but continues to block
additional applications. The future of DACA remains as uncertain as ever.
The news from the Fifth Circuit court underscores the urgent need for Congress to pass legislation creating a permanent solution for Dreamers. For over a decade, Congress has failed to act, which has left DACA recipients facing enormous uncertainty about their futures, with no guarantee that their ability to live and work in the U.S. without the threat of deportation will last.
Take action now: tell your Senators that Dreamers are vital members of our communities, and a permanent solution for them is long overdue.
The precarious situation Dreamers face hasn’t
stopped them from making tremendous contributions to our economy and communities; tens of thousands of DACA recipients work to feed America, care for patients, and educate our nation’s next generation.
There will be no certainty for Dreamers or their families, neighbors, loved ones, and employers until Congress passes legislation creating a pathway for them to establish permanent status. Dreamers are essential members of our communities, and their contributions are critical to our economy: DACA recipients own 68,000 homes, hold $25 billion in spending power in the American economy, and
contribute billions in federal, state and local taxes each year.
Tell Congress that it’s time to protect Dreamers.
Americans know the value Dreamers add to our nation. Eight in ten registered voters say Congress should pass legislation this year
to create a lasting solution for immigrants who came to the U.S. as children.
Reach out to your elected officials TODAY to tell them you’re among the majority of Americans who support permanent protections for Dreamers.
The message from Americans to Congress is clear: it’s time to pass bipartisan legislation so that Dreamers can finally have the stability and permanence that they deserve.
Sincerely,
Arturo Castellanos-Canales Senior Policy & Advocacy Associate National Immigration Forum
