Is there room in the Black Church for LGBTQ+ people of faith?

First-time filmmaker Qiydaar Foster (he/him) explores this question in Taking the Long Road Home, the latest short film from PFLAG National.

Produced and written by longtime PFLAG National collaborator, filmmaker Nick Oceano, and filmmaker Niketta Scott -- and told through the lens of Foster’s own faith journey as an Afro-Latino queer person -- the audience meets six Black ordained ministers who identify as LGBTQ+ or as allies, exploring the intersections of identity, family, and faith.

We're #PFLAGproud to bring Taking the Long Road Home to the big screen for its Mid-Atlantic Premiere at the Baltimore International Black Film Festival!

Taking the Long Road Home features interviews with Rev. Michael J. Crumpler, Rev. Debra J. Hopkins, Rev. Mykal Shannon, Rev. Naomi Washington-Leapheart, Rev. Dr. Christine Y. Wiley and Rev. Dr. Dennis Wiley.

It is written and produced by Nick Oceano and Niketta Scott, directed by Qiydaar Foster, and edited by Jake Korupp

PFLAG National is especially excited for Rev. Naomi Washington-Leapheart to represent the film at this screening. We hope you get a chance to enjoy the show and to meet Rev. Naomi!
