Don't Panic If Your Kid Refuses To Go To School
[[link removed]]
One day, Alexandra Frost’s son literally ran away from the bus. He told her he
didn’t want to go to school and apparently he really, really meant it. She had
to chase him down — and this is the kicker — while heavily pregnant. “Since
then, we haven’t had as dramatic of an exit, but have battled many bouts of
school refusal, due to gripes with friends, the wrong kind of chocolate milk in
the lunchroom, and a few more serious issues,” she writes. And so she decided to
investigate: What’s up with school refusal, and what the heck are we supposed to
do?

Hope nobody’s day included a frantic sprint after a runaway kid, and if so, that
you have better luck tomorrow.

We Probably Need To Give Our Firstborns A Little More Credit
[[link removed]]
Today we’ve got a piece from the Scary Mommy archives, a lovely piece by Katie
Bingham-Smith about her firstborn: “We navigated our way through so many firsts
together, some good and some not so much. But there wasn’t anyone else I would
have wanted to learn alongside. Our oldest kids have a big job that they don’t
ask for, and may not even want, and there are times when I forget that truth.”
Check it out — bet it makes you want to give your oldest a hug.
