It’s abundantly clear that after turning a blind eye to the myriad of crises plaguing the American people for months on end, Democrats remain solely focused on funding these catastrophes rather than solving them. In fact, last week, Speaker Pelosi and Senate Leader Schumer rammed through a continuing resolution (CR), a stop-gap measure that temporarily extends government funding through mid-December, rather than working with Republicans to fully – and responsibly – fund the government. This misguided move perfectly showcases Democrat leadership’s inability to govern, as well as their ill-advised priorities. I’d like to take this opportunity to explain why I voted against the Democrats’ sham CR, which undeniably bolsters Big Government Socialism.
You see, while not one more penny of your taxes should be squandered on the Left’s America Last agenda, Democrats’ continuing resolution extends their partisan, wasteful spending for another two months. This stop-gap spending bill provides billions of dollars to advance atrocious policies, such as the Department of Defense’s tyrannical vaccine mandate and the Department of Homeland Security’s dangerous open border measures. Additionally, Democrats’ irresponsible short-term fix hands more than $12 billion to Ukraine with almost no accountability — serving as a slap in the face to the American people as Washington continues to blow billions on protecting the sovereignty of foreign borders while intentionally failing to defend our own.
Furthermore, this band-aid solution simply kicks the can of government funding down the road to December, greenlighting President Biden, Speaker Pelosi, and Senate Leader Schumer’s priorities in the lame duck session. Republicans in both chambers must stand firm in the upcoming funding fight to block Democrats’ efforts to drag a radical, wasteful spending bill across the finish line right before losing power — further burdening Americans with yet another year of the Left's Big Government Socialist agenda.
I proudly opposed the Democrats’ irresponsible and foolish continuing resolution, and I look forward to fighting for fiscal responsibility in the looming funding battle. If you have questions or concerns regarding my vote, please reach out to my office here.
