Virginia Democrats,

Our 7th annual panel honoring the life and legacy of Barbara Johns is taking place on October 11th!

On April 23, 1951, at the age of 16, Barbara Johns led a student strike for equal education at R.R. Moton High School in Farmville. Her bravery and leadership led to her case being the only student-initiated case consolidated into Brown v. Board of Education.

We’re honored to be joined this year by Kristen Green, author of Something Must Be Done About Prince Edward County, Carl Eggleston, Former Member of the Farmville Town Council & recipient of the Brown Scholarship, and Cornell Walker, a student in Prince Edward County during the school closures in the 1960s.

This virtual event, moderated by the former chair of the Prince Edward Democratic Committee, Taikein Cooper, is free for Young Dems and only $25 otherwise. Proceeds go to the Democratic Party of Virginia’s efforts to elect Democrats in every corner of our Commonwealth this year and in 2023.
