Friend, since our founding, Medicaid expansion has been one of the landmark issues where we’ve championed campaigns and rallied voters to win the life-changing health care they need.

And these past few years of Medicaid expansion ballot measures have been so successful, here at the Fairness Project, we’re slowly putting ourselves out of the Medicaid business.

Idaho, Maine, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah, and now: South Dakota . This is our legacy of advocacy for affordable, equitable health care, across parties and presidencies. A few years ago, almost half the country lacked Medicaid expansion. Now, only 12 states remain.

That feeling of getting everything done on your checklist? We’re nearly there.

It’s important that we acknowledge this moment in time because it took so much to get here — countless hours of planning, fundraising, and campaigning have gone into the groundswell of voter support for Medicaid expansion. It definitely didn’t happen overnight!

We never would have made it here without building the movement that we rely on today, and that’s something worth celebrating. Organizations, activists, former politicians, voters, and you, friend, have all been integral to this effort.

At the same time, there is still so much work to be done — for these last 12 states, and for the future of progress and equity in America overall. We’ve made it this far because of your support and advocacy. This year, we’re going to take South Dakota over the finish line with that exact same grassroots strategy.

That’s why I’m reaching out, team: Will you take us over the finish line and help us close the health care gap with Medicaid expansion? [[link removed]]
