Hi John,
Last week, I shared the story of a young mother named Serena who was forced into having an abortion as a teenager.
Many like her can testify that young women are often counseled by their friends and family to abort their children as an act of “compassion”, in an effort to “save her” from a very different life.
After an abortion, however, Serena and mothers like her are left with a burden and trauma that no one else can bear for them. Friends and family who coerce these women can more easily drive home from the abortion center and “get back to normal” - since it was not their child who was killed.
But the women who are left with the physical loss of life within them are also left with emotional and spiritual emptiness after abortion as well.
Most women are never warned about the devastating effects of abortion, and millions of mothers and fathers who have had abortions continue to carry unspeakable grief.
Many do not feel they can be honest about their pain, since abortion was promised as a liberating “solution” - a promise found out to be empty, but after it was too late.
While there are always going to be painful consequences to abortion, women and men grieving the loss of their children need to know that healing IS available for them, if only they discover and accept the resources.
These parents who weep for their children, their hearts aching with remorse, deserve compassionate healing. And, their stories are a great gift to the pro-life movement.
Their testimonies defy the lies of the abortion industry at their core, and their paths to healing are beacons of hope for the millions whose wounds remain raw often decades after abortion.
John, if you know anyone in need of healing after abortion, I invite you to share our resources here: [link removed] ([link removed] )
A dear friend of mine recently went on a post-abortion healing retreat. It had been nearly three decades since her first abortion. After so many years, combined with sincere spiritual healing through her church, and working intimately with pro-life movement, the retreat was for her “the greatest blessing I have ever received, one that has given me immeasurable peace.”
Our culture has been so deeply wounded by abortion - but not irreparably.
The long and painful work of healing after abortion ushers in a renewed sense of our worth, and our inherent value as human persons. And until we recognize our own value, we cannot see the immeasurable value inherent to every preborn child.
I hope these resources are helpful to you and to those around you. Thank you for joining in this important work of healing ourselves, those around us, and our culture.
For life,
