John, did you know this week is Space Week – and that, as of today, there are officially less than five weeks until the 2022 elections? Both of these things have to do with my friend, colleague, and fellow space nerd Sen. Mark Kelly and his dead-heat race in Arizona. That's why I'm about to ask you to split a donation between our campaigns ahead of the final days of this election. Let me take just a moment to explain.

Space Week celebrates space and sustainability (which are two things my wife, Martha, will tell you I can't stop talking about). Images like those from the Webb Telescope enchant us and spark our imaginations, while also serving as poignant reminders of just how important it is to be good caretakers of our planet. Space, to me, represents the final frontier – the work left to do and the progress left to make.
This ultimately brings me to former astronaut, Sen. Mark Kelly, and the work that the two of us still have to do in the U.S. Senate.
We've made real, meaningful progress in the years since President Biden took office. But there is so much more that we must still do: ensure that everyone has access to affordable, quality health care; finally codify reproductive rights into law for every American; and pass bold legislation to protect our Earth for generations to come.
Mark is an incredible partner in this work, but a recent poll puts him just 1 point ahead of his MAGA opponent. I don't have to tell you that losing Mark's voice and his seat would be devastating – for both our Senate majority and all of the progress that we're fighting for.
So, John, that's why I have to ask: Please, will you invest in a bright future for our planet by splitting a donation between our campaigns? With so much on the line in Mark's neck-and-neck race, we are counting on your grassroots contribution in these final weeks.
