Friend, extreme wildfires are getting even more extreme.

For the last decade, extreme wildfires burned 1 million acres of California’s forests each year. But in 2020, that number quadrupled to 4 million acres!

As fire season has become a year-round phenomenon, California must do more to support the needs of our firefighters.

Thankfully, we have the solution: Passing the Prop 30 ballot measure this fall.

In addition to incentivizing zero-emission vehicles, Prop 30 will generate $800 million towards extreme wildfire resilience and prevention.

We cannot sit around and wait for these wildfires to break new records.

California’s firefighters have sacrificed their own health, safety, and working rights to save our homes and ecosystems.

In the fall of 2020, many of them were working 72 to 96 hours straight to combat the most extreme wildfires. And in the last three years, overtime for firefighters cost California more than $1 BILLION.

Prop 30 would give our heroic firefighters the support they deserve by nearly doubling their staffing, increasing efficiency in fighting extreme wildfires and alleviating excessive overtime.

This initiative, endorsed by the California Democratic Party, is also critical in the fight to address the climate crisis and keeps us safe.

The investments from Prop 30 every year would increase the resilience of 2,500 homes, save up to 500,000 acres of forest, and stop the release of 12 million metric tons of carbon dioxide. That’s the same amount of carbon as 2 million cars driving for a year!
