Miller Lite’s Open and Proud Town Hall: October 11th

Join Equality Virginia and Miller Lite next Tuesday, October 11 from 5:30-6:30 PM at Freddie's Beach Bar in Arlington for a community-led conversation - as a part of Miller Lite’s Open and Proud series in partnership with EV - to discuss how to help make bars more inclusive to ALL intersectional members of the LGBTQ+ community. Equality Virginia board member Bianca Humady Rey will moderate a panel of LGBTQ+ community members and you'll have an opportunity to share your own experiences and thoughts on how bars can become more welcoming and accepting to everyone in our community. Seating is first come first serve, so RSVP today!

Let's Talk IG Live Series: October 14th

As the General Election approaches, Equality Virginia and National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice have launched an Instagram Live series about early voting, voter registration, the importance of voting, and general information folks need to make a plan to vote.

This series is presented in 100% Spanish. Head to Equality Virginia's Instagram profile on Friday, October 14th at 12:00 PM to catch our Community Organizer, Luis Martínez, in action discussing all things election-related!

VBOE Monthly Business Meeting: October 20th

As you most likely already know, the Virginia Department of Education recently proposed a new model policy document that would single out and harm transgender and nonbinary students in Virginia’s public schools. While Virginia citizens can give written public comment on the policy until October 26th (see below), there will also be an opportunity to speak against the guidance in person on Thursday, October 20th at 9:00 AM at the Virginia Board of Education’s monthly business meeting. If you are interested in coming to Richmond to attend the meeting and/or give a verbal public comment with us on that day, please fill out the form below!

Public Comment Trainings: Every Monday & Wednesday through Oct. 26th

As of today, there are over 55,000 public comments on the VDOE’s anti-trans proposed model policy - and many of them are in opposition! Let’s keep up the momentum. If you haven’t submitted your comment yet - or if you know family members, friends, or coworkers who are interested in writing a public comment - then sign up for one of our Public Comment Trainings today! Every Monday and Wednesday at 12:00 PM through October 26th, Equality Virginia will be hosting Public Comment Trainings to answer questions and provide further assistance around writing a public comment against the new guidance. RSVP below!

Name & Gender Marker Change Clinic: November 15th

At this clinic, volunteer attorneys will assist clients with the legal aspects of name and gender marker changes. Specific offerings include name change applications, birth certificate corrections (including petitions for gender marker changes where required by the birth state), social security record updates, DMV ID, passports, military discharge records (DD214 amendments), and answering related legal questions. Income limitations apply. Cost assistance is available. Volunteer attorneys are licensed in Virginia; clients must reside in Virginia or have been born in Virginia in order to receive assistance. Sign up for an appointment below!
