Dear John,

You are cordially invited to a screening of The New Yorker documentary short, Stranger At The Gate, on October 12th at 6:30PM at UTA in Beverly Hills.

A winner at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival and an Oscar contender, this latest documentary by Joshua Seftel follows a U.S. Marine who returns home to Indiana with an all-consuming rage and plots to bomb a local mosque. His plan takes an unexpected turn when he comes face to face with the Afghan refugees, African American converts, and other Muslims that make up the community that he seeks to destroy.

Joshua Seftel is an Emmy and Peabody-nominee for his series Secret Life of Muslims for which he received an MPAC Media Award in 2018.

The president of the Muslim Public Affairs Council and I are happy to be consulting producers on the short documentary. Salam Al-Marayati and Executive Producer Lena Khan, also an MPAC Media Award recipient, will provide opening remarks before the screening. The half hour screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers, moderated by Los Angeles Times Film and TV Critic, Lorraine Ali. A reception with refreshments will follow.
