Dear John,
The Government will be making big decisions on climate action in the next six weeks. They’re due to publish the new Climate Action Plan by mid-November. The Plan must set out the actions Ireland will take to ensure we live within our binding pollution limits for 2021 to 2025.
Only bold action will do now. We’re way past time for half-measures and baby steps. It’s an emergency and the Government needs to act like it. And so do we.
Will you pledge to try to talk to your TDs before the Global Day of Climate Action on 12th November? Yes, I’ll take the pledge now [[link removed]]
Stop Climate Chaos member organisation, Friends of the Earth, has created this pledge [[link removed]]. If you sign it [[link removed]] they'll help you every step of the way as you get ready to talk to your TDs.
They'll provide you with an e-action you can use to email your TDs, outlining your concerns and suggesting that you’d love to have a word with them. They'll give you talking points and FAQs. And they will organise online webinars and workshops to support you with making those all important phone calls!
So will you pledge to try and talk to your TDs? I’ll pledge to call my TDs and sign up for support to help me do it [[link removed]]
You can talk to your TDs in whatever way you are most comfortable. You might like to call their offices in the Dáil just to check if they got your email - you can leave a message with whoever answers who will tell your TD that you called. You could keep it as simple as that!
You don’t need to be a climate expert and you don’t need to get into lots of detail. But if you would like to talk to them in a little more detail then there's help at hand! Join Friends of the Earth for a webinar next Tuesday - they'll run through some climate demands that you can put to your TDs.

The webinar will also look at some other ways you can speak to your TDs - such as teaming up with other climate activists in your constituency. And you'll hear about more ways to campaign for big and bold climate action between now and mid November. There's a lot planned for the next few weeks! The webinar will run from 7.30pm to 8.45pm, next Tuesday 11th October.
Will you join the webinar to get involved in climate campaigning this autumn? Register for the webinar [[link removed]]
Don’t forget John. The next couple of months are a crucial time for climate action. The Government will be making big decisions on not one but three key policies in the next two months.
I mentioned the Climate Action Plan at the start of my email - the Government will also be making decisions on the Energy Security Review and the Energy Poverty Action Plan. The COP27 UN Climate Talks are also approaching - where international level decisions will be made. We want our voices ringing in politicians' ears when they are making all of these decisions!
So will you sign our pledge to talk to them and join the webinar on the 11th to learn more? Yes, I’ll take the pledge now [[link removed]] Yes, I'll register for the webinar [[link removed]]
With thanks for all you do.
